Not long ago i was in a department store, when I noticed a beautiful woman browsing through the revenue rack. She had her to me, but I instantly believed that she was a model. The girl had long, shapely legs, a lovely figure, and dark hair linked into a braid.

“Wow, what a beauty! ” I thought towards myself as I turned toward the moccasins. All of a sudden, I heard something that ceased me dead in my tracks…

A strong male voice called out from the precise place she was standing, “Miss, could you tell me how much this skirts is? ”

It all sounded as if this beautiful woman were being invaded by a body snatcher! Which is when it hit me… “She” was a “he! ”

As a speech pathologist, I am acutely attuned to people’s voices. But it really didn’t take a Masters degree to appreciate that this gal’s voice was no complement to her feminine exterior. And I can tell by the shocked look about people’s faces that everybody within earshot also knew her secret.

What a shame! She seemed to be perfect in every other way – from her long, dark curly hair and feminine figure to her beautifully matched up outfit. Unfortunately, it was her TONE OF VOICE that shattered the feminine impression.
